I remember listening to a podcast a few years ago and hearing Derek Story talking about his project called ‘The Nimble Photographer’. Except at first I thought he said 'Noble' instead of 'Nimble'. Noble seemed a much more exciting prospect and got me thinking. What would a noble photographer be like?
A few ideas:
Always learning, always practising, never assuming they'd 'made it'.
Telling people's stories.
Not chasing trends.
Encouraging others, teaching, sharing 'secrets'.
Engaging, commenting and encouraging other photographers online and in person.
Not interested in Likes or Followers, but in tribes and communities and collaborations and art.
Helping other photographers in need, and helping others discover a new love for photography.
Puts the person (or animal, tribe or environment) before the image.
Maybe they’d use a fairly old, beaten up camera, but still create magic with it.
