Shannon is an actress here in New York, based out of Westchester. You may have already seen a few shots I've been shared on Instagram from this shoot. It was cold but sunny as we walked around the East Village. I'd already scouted out a few locations but I'm not that familiar with Alphabet City so a lot is improvised depending on what we came across on the day.
I've used a vintage film look as the basis for most of the color shots, my own Lightroom preset that I've been gradually improving over time.
This next shot is experimenting with an in-camera double exposure. I like the immediacy of creating the composition in-camera, and the need to combine the portrait with a background or other features that are at the same location:
We finished the shoot at some small public gardens with some great little features, and a low-key black and white seemed to work well. It might not show, but a warmer day would definitely have helped. Next time.
All images where shot with either the Fujifilm XF56mm f/1.2 or XF35mm f/2.0 (both great lenses). You can find Shannon's acting and modelling work at www.shannonberkeley.com.
