When:  7 November 2015, 10am-1pm

Where: 650 1st Street, Hoboken, New Jersey

Learn the fundamental theories and techniques of digital photography. Maybe you recently bought a new camera and aren't sure how to use it, you always leave the camera in 'auto' mode and want to get more creative, or you want to make higher quality images of your friends and family. In a small group we'll discuss the key principles of photography and how to apply them practically to your own photography. We'll also have some practical exercises, to review examples of great photography and to try out the techniques we've discussed.

Prerequisites:

No experience necessary. Bring your camera with you, whether it's a DSLR, compact or phone.

Content:

  • Getting sharp images
  • Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO
  • Focal Lengths
  • Camera types and differences
  • Composition

Approach

I keep group numbers small so that it's easy for everyone to meet each other, interact and ask questions. While it's important to understand the technical aspects of photography, it's the artistic, emotional and aesthetic aspects that matter most. Knowing and applying the right techniques and visual language will always make far more difference than the equipment you use. I always encourage my students to experiment, try something different and not worry about making mistakes.

Maximum of 8 students.
