Workshop: Style & Vision

160.00

When:  Next dates to be confirmed

Where: 650 1st Street, Hoboken, New Jersey

We'll discuss the art of photography and how to develop your own photographic style. Too often absorbed in the technical aspects of photography and whether we have the right camera or lens or settings, it's easy to forget about the artistic elements and the feelings we're trying to convey in our images.

We'll discuss how to consider vision and creativity rather than technology. You'll try out some simple practical exercises to help convey story, mood and feeling, to express yourself through your images.

Prerequisites:

No experience necessary. Bring your camera with you, whether it's a DSLR, compact or phone.

Content:

  • Analyzing great images
  • How do we see the world
  • Being vulnerable
  • Consistency or variety
  • Developing your own vision
  • Personal Projects

Approach

I keep group numbers small so that it's easy for everyone to meet each other, interact and ask questions. While it's important to understand the technical aspects of photography, it's the artistic, emotional and aesthetic aspects that matter most. Knowing and applying the right techniques and visual language will always make far more difference than the equipment you use. I always encourage my student to experiment, try something different and not worry about making mistakes.

Maximum of 8 students.
