Is 24MP Enough?

The new Canon R6ii is ‘only’ 24 megapixels compared to 33mp in the Sony A7iv or 45mp in the Canon R5 or 61mp in the Sony A7Rv. Is it enough?

Not that many years ago, even 16mp or 18mp seemed unthinkable. Professional photographers used much less. Even so, I must admit that I chose the Lumix S5 over the original Canon R6 partly because 20mp seemed a little low. But the S5 and Sigma FP are still ‘only’ 24mp. And that works just fine for my needs.

Here’s an example, from the FP. First the original photo, then a crop.
